Emblem book by the German physician and alchemist Michael Maier, first printed at Oppenheim in 1618. Each of its fifty emblems combines an engraved image with a motto, a Latin epigram, a prose discourse and a three-voice musical fugue, so that the alchemical work could be seen, read and heard. It is one of the most celebrated illustrated books of early modern alchemy.
