The Picatrix (Ghayat al-Hakim)

The Picatrix is a major medieval handbook of astrological magic, originally composed in Arabic as Ghayat al-Hakim and later translated into Latin. It is historically foundational for Renaissance magic, and inside are detailed theories of planetary correspondences, talismans, elections, and ritual techniques grounded in astrology and cosmology.

Pseudo-Maslama al-Majriti is the conventional scholarly name for the anonymous author or compiler behind a group of Arabic esoteric writings once associated with the astronomer and scholar al-Majriti. The works attributed to this figure are important in the history of medieval occultism, talismanic lore, and Hermetic speculation in the Islamic world and its transmission to Europe.
