The sefirot are introduced in Sefer Yetzirah and developed in the Zohar. Christian Kabbalists and the seventeenth-century Kabbala Denudata carried them into Latin; the Golden Dawn and Crowley then mapped planets, tarot trumps and gods onto the paths.
Jewish Kabbalah and Hermetic Qabalah use the same diagram for different purposes. The guide comparing them is the best companion to this page.
