Friedrich Max Müller (1823–1900) was a pioneering philologist and scholar of religion whose translations and editions made a wide range of Sanskrit and comparative religious texts accessible to European readers. Although not an occult writer himself, his work strongly influenced the study of myth, comparative religion, and the history of sacred literature.
