S. L. MacGregor Mathers (1854–1918) was a British occultist and one of the principal founders of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. He is especially important for his translations and compilations of esoteric texts, including grimoires and kabbalistic materials, which helped shape modern ceremonial magic.
