Henry Steel Olcott (1832–1907) was an American lawyer, journalist, and co-founder of the Theosophical Society with Helena P. Blavatsky. He played a major role in disseminating Theosophical ideas and in promoting comparative religion, especially through his work in South Asia and his writings on Buddhism.
