Confessio Fraternitatis

The Confessio Fraternitatis is the second major Rosicrucian manifesto, issued soon after the Fama and intended to clarify the fraternity’s aims. Historically important for shaping European responses to Rosicrucianism, it sets out theological and philosophical claims, including calls for reform and a critique of conventional learning, while offering readers a concise statement of the movement’s ideals.

Anonymous Rosicrucian texts are central to early modern esoteric literature, especially the manifestos and related writings that circulated under claims of Rosicrucian authorship. Their anonymity is significant, since it reflects both the symbolic character of the tradition and the literary strategy of presenting spiritual reform through concealed authorship.
