Thomas à Kempis (c. 1380–1471) was a German-Dutch religious writer and canon regular best known as the traditionally accepted author of The Imitation of Christ. His work became one of the most influential texts of Christian devotional literature, emphasizing humility, interiority, and imitation of Christ as the path of spiritual life.
