Margaret Alice Murray (1863–1963) was a British Egyptologist and folklorist whose work became influential in the study of Western esotericism. Although her historical reconstruction of a surviving pagan witch-cult is now widely disputed, it played a major role in twentieth-century occult and witchcraft literature and in later interpretations of European magical traditions.
