John Dee (1527–1608/9) was an English mathematician, astrologer, antiquary, and natural philosopher whose writings deeply influenced Renaissance esotericism. He is especially important for his angelic conversations, alchemical interests, and attempts to unite learned magic, Hermetic philosophy, and Christian devotion.
