Jan van Ruusbroec (1293–1381), also known as Ruysbroeck, was a Flemish mystical theologian and one of the major figures of late medieval Christian mysticism. His writings, including *The Spiritual Espousals*, explore contemplative union with God and had a lasting influence on later mystical literature.
