Ethan Allen Hitchcock (1798–1870) was an American army officer and author whose later writings explored the symbolic and philosophical dimensions of alchemy and religion. His studies, especially on the relationship between alchemical symbolism and spiritual interpretation, made him an important early American contributor to esoteric scholarship.
